MST Certified Logo P286 1Nova Scotia Certified Marine Service Technician Program;

Commercial and Recreational Boat Businesses performing maintenance and repairs on boats can now take advantage of the Nova Scotia Certified Marine Service Technician Program. The Program consists of an apprenticeship for upcoming Marine Service Technicians who can now apprentice under Nova Scotia Certified Marine Service Technicians working at businesses in Nova Scotia.

Businesses can enroll apprentices in the program by making sure they have a Nova Scotia Certified Marine Service Technician on staff who can be the journeyperson to train and mentor the apprentice(s). Technicians who qualify can challenge the certification exam.

In order to qualify for certification the  Marine Service Technician must:
-Have a minimum of 10,800 hours of hands-on work experience or approximately 6 years in all aspects of the Trade that can be proved.
-Contact a Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Training Consultant to review qualifications, and apply for certification.
-Write a 120 question certification exam.
